On Monday, September 24, 2012, Katie O'Donnell's in conjunction with Showtime Charities and the Teal Tea Foundation hosted an Ovarian Cancer benefit. Female comedienne Chris Rich (Comedy Central, ABC, etc) along with 20 entertainers and singers performed during 7:00-10:00pm. Showtime Charities presented Divas and Divos in a wonderfully choreographed evening of song and dance, with special guest appearances by the Mummers. The evening inclusive of a silent auction raised over $3,500. Members of Showtime Charities presented the Foundation with a check during their monthly Executive Committee meeting in November.
The greater part of the funds from this event will sustain the Foundation's GIVE WOMEN A LIFT program. This program works with social service agencies and medical professionals to provide transportation funding for ovarian cancer patients to get to and from doctor's appointments, testing and chemotherapy treatments. Both organizations (Showtime Charities and the Teal Tea Foundation) are thankful and appreciative of all who attended and donated to the auctions. We will be booking a repeat date in September and will make this an annual event.
